“IN-SITU OBSERVATION AS THE KEY TO MATERIAL AND PROCESS BEHAVIOUR"
Many joining/welding and material phenomena can only be observed and interpreted in real time. These in-situ studies are increasingly contributing to understanding the complex material behaviour and to improve products.
Significant progress has been made in recent years, particularly in modern process monitoring methods such as statistical process control (SPC), real-time data analysis using sensors and software, and the application of artificial intelligence. Beside this in-situ scattering and diffraction measurements using synchrotron radiation and neutrons are valuable tools to look at the non-equilibrium processing of advanced materials and are used effectively in research and application.
In the tradition of the in-situ workshops already held in 2009 (Berlin), 2012 (Osaka), 2016 (Salt Lake City), 2021 (Sintra, Portugal), 2023 (Braga, Portugal), 2025 (Coimbra) the continuation of these events will now take place at the 7th International Conference on Advanced Joining Processes (AJP) in Madeira (Portugal) from 21-22 October 2027. The workshop provides the platform for experts as well as young professionals to discuss the subject from the theoretical and experimental standpoint, to provide a closer insight into the possibilities of different observation techniques.
We invite researchers to present and discuss their findings and exchange ideas!
Within this workshop, the following items will be addressed:
- Joining/advanced welding and additive manufacturing process observation
- Stress-/strain analysis (residual stresses)
- Phase transformations
- Cracking phenomena
- Model development and simulation
- In-situ methods and techniques
- Analysis tools and programming
The poster size must be maximum A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm) in portrait (see sample image). The text and illustrations should be readable from a distance of two meters. Tacks and technical equipment for the hanging of posters will be available. Please check the conference final program for the poster board number assigned to you. Your poster should be displayed as per the number in the program.
